Title

German Short Saber

Description

A dished bilobate counterguard was combined with a German-Swiss style lion-headed pommel and a unique cast brass "twisted" pattern of lateral branches to create this interesting semi-basket short saber. Roped brass wires enclose the wooden grip, with a turks head ferrule at each end. A downcurving lobed quillon and thumb ring on the inboard guard - which is smaller than the outboard - complete the hilt. Its long cutting blade includes a 3/8" x 26" back fuller and a 6" false edge.

Length: 37 3/4"
Blade: 31 7/8" X 1 1/2"
Weight: 1.7 lbs.
Hilt: Brass
